We're excited to be joined by professional athletes Rebecca Rusch and Ted King to spend an afternoon riding bikes and an evening telling stories. Rebecca is the undisputed Queen of Pain, a seven time world champion, 3 time DK200 winner and Ted has had a storied career in the ProTour peloton, riding on the biggest cycling stages in the world including the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France.
There will be a group gravel ride departing from Sunflower at 3pm that will cover about 20 miles of northeast Kansas gravel at a friendly pace. That evening we'll reconvene at Sunflower at 7pm for an evening chat with Rebecca, Ted and Dan Hughes.
This event is free and open to all. You can get more details as the event draws closer by RSVPing on Facebook.
Living legend, Rebecca Rusch will be joining us for an evening of Dirty Kanza prep time and will be conducting an endurance racing Q&A. This is your chance to get the tips from the very best in the biz! Because Rebecca is such a beast on the bike, her sponsors go above and beyond to make sure the Queen is outfitted with everything she needs to CRUSCH (see what we did there?) her competition. She and her sponsors wanna pass this love along to all of you, so we'll also be joined by some special guests eager to share some knowledge and of course some goodies...
Specialized Road Product Managers Don Langley and Chris Weahan will be on hand to talk details about Specialized road bikes. These guys are in charge of some of the most famous bikes Specialized makes, like the Crux, Allez, Dolce, and Don's own namesake, the Langster. Any questions you have, they have answers.
Garmin guru Tyson Willoughby will in house ready to set up your personal Garmin with current firmware and the ever-so-handy Dirty Kanza course map. Your navigation will be on point for any ride, whether it be the DK or some other adventure. Let the satellites do the work so your brain can think about the ride.
Progold will be hosting a product demonstration and giveaway for all in attendance. Don't even think about tackling your next gravel ride, let alone the the Kanza, without a clean and lubed drivetrain.
GU will have nutrition product and advice for race-day fueling-- something that can make or break an epic ride.
Light and Motion, Smith Optics, and Redbull will also all be in the house to put the finishing touches on your race prep. You can't afford to miss this!
ALL ARE WELCOME! There will be a lot of Dirty Kanza talk going on, but the event is open to all who are interested in having fun on their bike, and is totally FREE!
Want to join us for a little gravel shakedown ride? We'll be leaving the Sunflower at 4pm (5/29) to hit the Lawrence gravel-- casual pace, just for kicks. Then we'll meet back at the shop with plenty of time to get the presentation underway at 7pm. It's not everyday you get to ride with a World Champion. We're absolutely stoked and you should be to!
We'll see you for Rebecca's Race Rendezvous here at Sunflower on Thursday, May 29th at 7:00pm.
